THE scientist who led the team that cracked the human genome is to publish a book explaining why he now believes in the existence of God and is convinced that miracles are real.

Though this great scientist does not arrive at orthodox Christian conclusions yet, his testimony is a welcome breathe of fresh, honest air. Someday, God willing, he may take the next step in his own logic and conclude, "if God chose to use some other method than evolution to create man, even if today's scientists haven't figured out how, who are we to argue?" Fr. Brad+

On miracles he says,
"If one is willing to accept the existence of God or some supernatural force outside nature then it is not a logical problem to admit that, occasionally, a supernatural force might stage an invasion." Fascinating idea - allowing logic to get in the middle of science! Read it all by clicking the link above.

Snip "However Galileo was famously questioned by the inquisition and put on trial in 1633 for the "heresy" of claiming that the earth moved around the sun." Snip

Just a quick commentary, allow me to quote Peter Kreeft, respected philosophy professor at Boston College, "Galileo was just as arrogant and antagonistic as the narrow minded bishops who executed him." No excuse for the bishops but helps explain how things got so terribly out of hand.

If bishops and scientists demonstrate wisdom, humility, and awe...

Father,
His world is still manufactured by him-he is still autonomous as evidenced by his view of evolution. We have no reason to believe that his god is anything but an extension of his finite world view. He is merely immanantistic and admitting to a truth all men know- that God exists (Romans 1). But his god here is a limiting factor as it permits him to now account for The Beyond, the irrational-that that he can't account for in the lab. There is no hope for this man except if he humbly receives the Triune God of Scripture. Keith
